BULKY ITEMS

What about those Extra Set-Outs?

How many times have you found yourself with more garbage than your Herbie will hold? From time to time we all have extra set-outs, those bulky items that will not properly fit -- allowing the Herbie lid to close. Please remember that Yard Waste is a separate collection. Some material requires additional preparation before it can be collected:

  • Animal/Human Excrement - must be doubled bagged prior to placing into Herbie.
  • Appliances - call 425-2255 for pick-up details.
  • Cardboard - flattened, bundled and tied.
  • Carpet - must be cut and tied in 4-foot sections. Bundled carpet weight should not exceed sixty (60) pounds. If you have carpet installed by a professional, they should take the old carpet away.
  • Dead Animals - call 425-2255 for pick up of small animals carcasses such as cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels and rats placed in the public right of way. No service on private property.
  • Furniture - mattresses, couches, etc. please call 425-2255 for pick-up details.
  • Glass - broken and placed in galvanized trash cans with a lid. Glass in windows & doors must also be broken and put in a can.
  • Medical waste - needles and used gauze pads should be securely enclosed in a metal container, such as a coffee can before being placed in the Herbie. Urine bags should be emptied to prevent them from breaking during collection and compacting process.
  • Paint - solidified with sand, dirt or kitty litter; no lead-based paints. For large amounts call DEEM at 258-3784.
  • Swing sets, clothesline poles, pipe and all other types of metal - must be cut into 4 foot sections and all concrete removed from pole.
**No metal car parts, ammunition, building, construction material, demolition material, 55 gallon drums, pianos, dirt, rocks, roofing, concrete tubs, railroad ties or propane tanks are collected. Professional contractors are responsible for disposing of materials used in their jobs for example building material, carpet, painting, and so forth.
