Many properties within the Urban County Service Area are considered historically significant and are designated as H-1 under the Lexington – Fayette Urban County zoning ordinance. This historical zoning overlay is in addition to their original zoning. Any project that proposes improvements and /or changes to the exterior of the building or any site improvements requires approval of the Division of Historical Preservation through its Board of Architectural Review.
