First steps taken Put 150 new, fully-equipped police officers on Lexington’s streets by 2010. (50 new officers included in FY08 budget.)
First steps taken Convene an inter-agency work group to assure our city’s emergency preparedness. (Completed in December, 2006.)
First steps taken Ensure that LFUCG has a comprehensive emergency communication plan that would allow for inter-divisional communication.
First steps taken Use all governmental media resources to keep the public informed so that citizens are prepared for an emergency before it occurs and are notified of information during an emergency.
First steps taken Coordinate agencies throughout LFUCG and the community in the event of an emergency to deploy resources and ensure that emergency supplies are pre-positioned.
First steps taken Upgrade the Emergency Operations Center to ensure the latest communications and technology systems are being utilized.
First steps taken Establish benchmarks for compensation of all Department of Public Safety employees and report the results of the compensation review annually.
First steps taken Meet annually with local judges to identify ways to punish non-violent criminals in ways other than incarceration at the Detention Center. (First meeting held in April, 2007.)
