5. What is the difference between a registered neighborhood association and a homeowners' association (HOA)?
Answer: A registered neighborhood association is a voluntary association that has registered with the city as a group interested in planning projects and referrals for various noticing requirements. A homeowners' association (HOA) is a mandatory association that usually assesses a fee for the care and upkeep of common facilities, such as landscaping, swimming pool, management costs, etc. Sometimes HOAs and registered neighborhood associations are the same, but more often are not.
6. Can the city enforce deed restrictions, covenants, etc?
Answer: The city does not enforce private deed restrictions because they are private agreements. Please consult your HOA representative, property manager, or an attorney to learn more about possible legal remedies to enforce deed restrictions or similar private agreements.
