Rental Facilities

Choosing the perfect location for your meeting or social event makes it memorable for you and your guests. Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer several unique facilities to you. From historic homes to modern meeting places for smaller affairs, we can help you with your needs. Service varies from location and may include tables, chairs, spacious kitchens and an on-site maintenance coordinator, who will ensure the success of your function.

PICNIC SHELTERS -- RESERVED
Jacobson, Masterson Station, Shillito, Southland and Veterans Parks offer picnic shelters for families and organized groups to use for picnics seven days a week. Each shelter has picnic tables and accommodates at least 50 people and one shelter (# 4 in Jacobson) holds up to 100 people.

All shelters at Jacobson Park and two shelters at Shillito Park have electricity and water. Avon at Bluegrass Station has a Summer House that includes a screened shelter, water, electric and picnic tables (described above). Advanced reservations and fees are required for use of all of these facilities. All shelters rent for $30 with the exception of #4 in Jacobson, which rents for $50.

There are more than 50 picnic shelters in Lexington that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.


OTHER RENTAL FACILITIES

AVON SUMMER HOUSE AT BLUEGRASS STATION
(5879 Briar Hill Road): The Avon Summer House is a large screened shelter at the Avon Golf Course and swimming pool. This facility will accommodate approximately 150 people, has picnic tables and grills available and has accessible restrooms. Rental includes shelter and tennis/volleyball. Rent is $100/half day and $200/full day.

BELL HOUSE
(545 Sayre Avenue): Today, the Bell House still looks as it did when Thomas Lewinski designed it over 150 years ago. The mansion’s combination of Greek revival, Queen Anne and Romanesque styles gives it a unique beauty and charm. From its beautiful original columns and hardwood floors to its beveled and stained glass, you will agree that the Bell House is one-of-a-kind. This historic home is the perfect location for an occasion hosting up to 150 people, and with its sweeping grand staircase, it’s the ideal setting for gracious weddings. Rental fee is $75/hour.

KEARNEY HILL GOLF LINKS
(3403 Kearney Road): Picadome Golf Course (469 Parkway Drive)
Located on golf courses, these two facilities offer meeting rooms with great views of green vistas, ideal for business and professional meetings as well as golf outings for your group. An outside vendor will supply your food and beverage needs. Each facility seats over 100 and can be arranged in a variety of ways to meet your needs. Fees vary according to your needs. KENTUCKY-AMERICAN WATER COMPANY EDUCATION CENTER
(416 Rebmann Lane): Located at the historic McConnell Springs, the center provides an attractive modern setting for groups wishing to host meetings or receptions of up to 75 guests. Large windows provide a picturesque view of the flower garden, fountain and bird sanctuary. Rental fee is $50/hour.

MASTERSON STATION PARK
INDOOR RIDING AREA

(3051 Leestown Road): Parks and Recreation is pleased to make the Indoor Riding Arena Complex at Masterson Station Park available to the public. The arena provides a quality rental facility for groups wishing to host an event and offers an indoor facility for individual equestrian use at a reasonable fee. For rental information and reservations, call 253-0328. Fees vary.

TATES CREEK BALLROOM
(1400 Gainesway Drive): Originally known as the Tates Creek County Club, this property was privately owned and operated until the late 1960’s. The Tates Creek Ballroom is a single room with measurements of 38’ X 100’. The muted grandeur of parquet floors and French doors make this spacious area ideal for functions with live music. The room is also the perfect location for meetings, dinners and receptions of up to 250 guests. Rental fee is $80/hour.

JACOBSON PARK MARINA
The Jacobson Park Marina has a launch area for non-motorized boats and rents pedalboats. All riders must wear a US Coast Guard approved personal floatation device. Concessions — A concession building offers a variety of drinks and snacks. Fishing — Fishing docks are located in several areas throughout the park and are accessible to wheelchairs. You must have a fishing license if you are 16 or older. Fishing is FREE.
