Scholarships
We are committed to seeing every child in our community provided the opportunity to participate in recreational and leisure activities, regardless of economic limitations. The LFUCG Division of Parks and Recreation provides for a 50% reduction in fees for families who qualify. Parents/Guardians must complete a scholarship form and provide proof of eligibility on an annual basis. Free lunch verification, KTAP, Medical Card, documentation of foster care or other proof of government assistance is acceptable as proof of eligibility. All forms must be submitted to the Division and verified before any scholarships are granted.
Some Parks and Recreation programs are already offered at a reduced rate and therefore do not offer the 50% fee reduction. These programs are: Castlewood Community Center Camp and the Kiddie Kapers Company half-day dance camp.
The Extended School Program (ESP) fee reduction rate is based on an enrollment ratio. One partial scholarship is given for every ten (10) enrollments. Reduced rate of $10 per day is given for summer camp and $5 per day for after school per child. For those families that do not qualify for scholarships, a multiple child discount is given for summer camp only.
Scholarship requests are reviewed and approved by the Section Manager of the program for which the scholarship is being requested or in the case of registration for multiple programs any Section Manager may approve the request.
Appeals for denial of scholarship eligibility or requests for additional fee reduction may be made in writing to the Division of Parks and Recreation Director, 469 Parkway Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.

Severe Weather and Emergency Conditions
In the event of severe weather or emergency conditions, patrons participating in any Division of Parks and Recreation program, athletic event or activity should take immediate cover from the possible impending emergency.
Any Division of Parks and Recreation event shall be postponed or cancelled at the first sight of lightning or the sound of thunder at the activity site. If it is anticipated that the storm will pass, the activity may be resumed no sooner than thirty (30) minutes after the last sight of lightning or the last sound of thunder.
If the weather is of great length or intensity, the Division of Parks and Recreation facilities (swimming pools, golf courses, etc.) will close until it is deemed safe for them to re-open.
Safety of the public is the number one factor in taking this course of action.
