18 Holes, Par 72, Blue Tees - 6,987 yards, White Tees - 6,501 yards, Red Tees - 5,362
yards. Kearney Hill is a premier public golf course, located in northwest Fayette
County. Totally unlike any other golf course in the area, Kearney Hill Links has
drawn rave reviews from golfers. It is a Scottish links-style course, characterized by
open, rolling terrain, deep sand and grass bunkers and a few trees. The wind is a very
important factor in playing the course.
Kearney Hill Golf Links has had the privilege to host such events as the Senior PGA Tour, Celebrity Players Tour, PGA Junior Series, the 1998 Men’s United States Amateur Public Links Championship as well as many local and state championships. In 2007, this course will host the 2007 Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.
The course was designed by famous golf course architects Pete and P.B. Dye, who have
designed numerous unusual courses around the country, including the PGA West Stadium Course
in Palm Springs, CA. the TPA at Sawgrass in Palm Beach, FL., and Crooked Stick Golf Club
in Carmal, IN. They now have added a Lexington landmark to their list of creative
masterpieces. The 211-acre course, located on Kearney Road off Georgetown Road
(US 25) includes:
- A 23,000 square foot multilevel clubhouse with food service and meeting rooms
- 10-acre practice area
- 3 man-made lakes with 10 acres of surface area
- 71 sand bunkers
- Natural amphitheater areas around the greens
- 3.5 acres for corporate sponsor tents/displays, including 2-acres on terrace
overlooking the 18th green
- 14 out of the 18 holes can be viewed from the observation decks on the
second level of the clubhouse
- Playing surface: tees and fairways are Penncross bentgrass; greens are
Pennlinks bentgrass; greens average 8,500 - 9,000 square feet with considerable
undulation
- Cart paths - continuous throughout the course
Kearney Hill Links has been rated in the top 10 best golf courses in Kentucky
by Golf Digest magazine.
Kearney Hill is open year-round except for Christmas Day. The course is open for
play 8:00 am until dusk. Tee times are reserved seven days in advance.
