PARKS HOME
Dog Runs

Lexington is fortunate to have three locations where puppies and adult dogs can exercise and not endanger themselves or others. Well-exercised dogs are less likely to engage in nuisance behaviors such as constant barking. In addition, dogs who have frequent contact with other dogs and humans are calmer and tend to have better social manners. Dog Parks also provide a place where dog owners can socialize and make new friends they would not have otherwise met.

Locations:
The dog parks are located at Jacobson Park, Masterson Station Park and Coldstream Park. Jacobson Park is approximately four acres with a tree line and benches. The Masterson Station Dog Park is six acres and will be expanded in the future to 16 acres. In 2006, a new facility was added at Coldstream Park. This park is 12 acres and is divided into two separate paddocks.

Rules for Dog Park Use:
1. Owners are legally responsible for the actions of their dog(s).
2. Dog waste must be cleaned up by owners.
3. “Off-leash” does not mean unsupervised. Owners must be within the park and within view of their dog(s) at all times.
4. Aggressive dogs must be leashed and removed immediately.
5. Dog owners must have a leash available at all times.
6. All children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
7. Small children must be kept under strict supervision by an adult.
8. Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the dog park.
9. Female dogs in heat are prohibited.
10. Owners must fill any holes dogs dig.
11. All dogs must have proof of appropriate licensing and vaccinations.
12. ALL DOG OWNERS THAT FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THESE RULES CAN BE ASKED TO LEAVE BY PARKS PERSONNEL OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
