County Kildare, Ireland
County Kildare, Ireland became Lexington’s second Sister City in 1984. As the center of the thoroughbred horse industry in Ireland and the home of the Irish National Stud, the top breeding facility in Ireland, County Kildare’s history of contact with Lexington and its horse interest made a logical match for
the two communities.
County Kildare is only 25 km from the center of Dublin and the main roads west (Galway) and south
(Cork and Limerick) cross the county.
Visiting County Kildare and the Emerald Isle, you will enjoy the beautiful medieval castles and towers.
Also, the county is home to many of the world’s most respected golf courses, museums, parks, rivers and
the famous Irish Derby. Above all, you will find many friendly people.
