Every sworn firefighter, and most of our civilian dispatchers are state certified EMT's. More than 200 of our firefighters are also state licensed Paramedics. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for the camaraderie we've shared, and for your years of service to the citizens of Fayette County

Fire Recognizes Paramedic Students!
During the EMS Week ceremonies the 21st of May, Assistant Chief Chuck Fowler and Assistant Chief David Mattingly joined the audience in congratulating six line firefighters who have just completed the classroom portion of the Paramedic Training course. These firefighters must now complete the National Registry examination and apply to the state to become licensed Paramedics. Pictured from left to right are David Davis, Tad Willis, Terry Watts, Robert Mott, Gerald Evans and Gregg Shroyer. Not attending but also line firefighters in the course were Nicholas Newman, Shannon Ison, Brian Moscoe, Matthew Wells and Dereck Roberts, the course's Academic Award winner.
Now that Paramedic training is over, 35 recruits graduated from the Training Academy Friday May 25, and will be assigned to individual companies (Engine, Ladder or Emergency Care) on one of three platoons, in one of five fire districts at one of 23 fire stations in Fayette County. Thirteen of the recruits were already National Registry certified Paramedics before their academy training began. They have been working on companies in fire stations since December 9, 2006. Congratulations go out to these line firefighters and recruits who have dedicated several months in classes learning anatomy, physiology, cardiology, pharmacology and a wide range of specialized emergency healthcare skills and techniques, as well as treatment protocols established by the Division of Fire. They have all shown themselves capable of a high standard of emergency care, and we appreciate their commitment to helping Fayette County citizens throughout the rest of their careers. Open Burning Permits... Please take the time to read the regulations - they will save you a lot of time and money, and make the whole permit process run more smoothly for everybody. To that end, there is a link at the bottom of each page in the set to get to the next page. Only the last page of the regulations has a link to the actual application. The whole thing opens up in a new browser window, so when you are done, just close the window to come back here and browse more of the LFD website. To apply, click here.... |
