The Citizens’ Advocate is the ombudsman for Lexington. The Urban County Government Charter established this office.
The Citizens’ Advocate office receives and investigates complaints from residents concerning the administration or delivery of local government services; discloses abuses or irregularities; and suggests
solutions and recommends procedural or substantive changes to improve the Urban County Government.
An important goal of this office is to remove barriers between the citizens and their government.
Inquiries and complaints are confidential and may be made anonymously.
Lexington residents may raise their concerns to the Citizens’ Advocate in person, by mail, e-mail or
telephone. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, or by appointment.
