More than 90% of car seats in cars today are unsafe, because of improper installation, missing pieces or factory recall.

The Division of Fire and Emergency Services partners with the Fraternal Order of Firefighters to sponsor "Operation Safe Seat". This program provides child safety seat inspections, instructions on proper installation and recall information.

The F.O.F. also provides, with referral from an appropriate agency, car seats to Fayette County families who cannot afford them. Our goal is to provide safety for every child that we can.

To schedule a safety seat inspection/installation, please E-Mail us, giving us your name, phone number(s), where you live and what kind of car(s) and child safety seat(s) you have. Information about your child(ren)'s size(s) and age(s) will also be helpful, or call 455-7328 and follow the directions on the recorded message. We will take care of your request and confirm your appointment for an inspection and assistance by telephone as soon as it can be scheduled.
