Destination 2040 makes it easy for the people who care most about Lexington-Fayette County to help shape its future. Every person in Lexington-Fayette County can help answer the root question, "How will we protect all that we value while continuing to grow as a community?”
We encourage you to help organize and be part of two small naturally occurring meetings, to be held at your workplace, neighborhood, congregation, sports league or school. Each meeting will last 90 minutes. Each meeting will take place where you want, at the time your choose.
If you are not able to meet with others, please take part online, as described below. However you choose to take part in Destination 2040, keep track of the project by receiving email updates. Sign up here.
Meet with friends, colleagues or family
The best ideas about Lexington's future will come from people talking with each other and listening to each other's hopes and dreams. The heart of Destination 2040 is small, structured meetings among people who already know each other and who already meet together for other reasons such as work, sports, performance, worship, fun, or shared learning. Trained volunteer facilitators will keep each meeting on track and ensure that every good idea goes into the community idea bank, in Lexingtonian's own words.
- If someone is already organizing a meeting at your workplace, temple, church, sports league, neighborhood association, or school, help them out and take part. If none of your groups or organizations has begun to organize a Destination 2040 meeting yet, take the lead and work to set up one or more meetings. Get started here
- For each meeting you organize yourself, recruit teams of two people to facilitate each meeting, and make sure the facilitators enroll and choose training dates.
- Volunteer to facilitate Destination 2040 meetings yourself, whether or not you are organizing meetings within your own organizations. Enroll and choose training dates here.
- If you do not have a group to join, choose one of the open-to-all public meetings scheduled at our community's high schools:
