Neighborhood Emergency Network (NEN)
Disasters can happen anywhere, anytime, and to anyone. And while we can't always prevent them, we can work together and be ready!
That’s why DEEM and the Fayette County Neighborhood Council are teaming up to sponsor the Neighborhood Emergency Network (NEN). It's a new public safety program that seeks to involve neighborhoods in helping to prepare citizens for disasters. It’s a great way to volunteer and a valuable resource for police, fire, and other emergency responders.
It’s Neighbor Helping Neighbor
NEN is based on a common sense notion: Neighbor Helping Neighbor. When emergencies occur, we depend on police, fire, and others agencies for help. But there are times when we also must be self-sufficient. When this happens, we look to our neighbors, families, and most of all ourselves. And when we see someone in trouble, our first instinct is to help.
All of this means that each of us needs to know the safe way to handle an emergency. And because we know our neighborhoods best, each of us has an important role to play in keeping them safe.
