Donald Wayne “Don” Blevins, is serving his first term as the 10th District council member.
A native of Lexington who was raised in Gardenside, Blevins attended James Lane Allen Elementary, Beaumont Junior High, and Lafayette High schools. He holds a bachelor and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky and Rutgers University. His private sector experience includes program management in business services and research and development.
Don continues a family tradition of civic involvement. His father was elected to the first 10th District Council seat for the merged government and served two terms, later becoming an at-large councilman as well. In 1982, Don Blevins, Sr. was elected as Fayette County Clerk and still serves in that position. Don’s uncle, Barkley Blevins, also served as 10th District and at-large councilman.
Don has served on the boards of various non-profit organizations in Lexington. In education, he is serving his
5th term as a parent representative of the School-Based Decision Making Council for James Lane
Allen Elementary School. He was named to the State Commissioner’s Parent Advisory
Council in 2003. He is also a graduate of the Prichard Committee’s Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership (2001).

Don has also coached youth baseball, basketball and soccer for more than 20 years.
He and his wife, Sharon, have two sons, Jacob and Eli.
