FOR YOUR INFORMATION
All council work sessions/meetings will be held in the council chambers on the second floor of the Govt. Center and shall be
open to the public. There is public comment time at both of these meetings.
COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Work Sessions are informal meetings held every Tuesday at 3:00 pm. The Council decides what actions will be taken at its
formal meeting on Thursday nights.
COUNCIL MEETING
Council Meetings are formal meetings in which previously discussed ordinances and resolutions are legally enacted by the
Council. These meetings are held at least twice a month on Thursday evenings at 7 pm.
COMMITTEES
The Council has four standing committees that meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Council Chamber:
The Planning Committee is responsible for parks, planning and zoning, housing, transportation, grants
legislation and social services. Planning

The Intergovernmental Committee handles personnel, wages and classifications, government organization, employee
relations, government buildings and property maintenance.

The Services Committee deals with issues relating to public safety, public works, Urban County courts
and constitutional officers.

The Budget and Finance Committee is responsible for issues involving the finances of the Urban County
Government. [During the annual review of the budget, the committee becomes a "committee of the whole," with
the Vice Mayor assuming the chair.] Budget
