bike rack 111 Bicycle Parking
Bike racks have been installed throughout the downtown area for your convenience. The “post and loop” style racks are designed to secure two bicycles when parked parallel to the ring. To request bicycle parking at a downtown location please visit our feedback page.

Pedestrian Facilities
As Lexington has grown, there have been different standards to decide whether or not a sidewalk is installed along a roadway. Presently, all newly developing areas, and major roadway projects, include sidewalk construction. In older areas of the city, most neighborhood streets have sidewalks.

However, there are some major roadways, and rural roads that have become more urbanized, that do not have sidewalks. LFUCG is working to inventory the gaps in the sidewalk network and prioritize projects. To voice your support for the construction of a specific sidewalk segment please visit our feedback page.

Remember, when walking on a street without sidewalks, you should walk facing traffic.

Sidewalk maintenance
In Lexington, sidewalk maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner. You can contact LFUCG Code Enforcement to determine if your sidewalk needs to be repaired. If Code Enforcement determines the sidewalk needs to be replaced, you may be eligible for 50% reimbursement of the cost, regardless of household income. Some property owners may be eligible for 100% reimbursement. You must contact Code Enforcement prior to the repairs to receive financial assistance. Funds are available on a first-come first-served basis each year. Individuals are encouraged to report sidewalks in need of repair by contacting Lexcall at 425-2255 or Online.
