Safety and Loss Control Section
Ensuring safe work environments for employees - reducing number and costs of accidents and injuries.
In every facility, home, property, and work environment, there exists the possibility of
risk, injury, or exposure. It is the job of the Safety and Loss Control Section to educate, test, monitor,
consult, and assist with the safety of all LFUCG employees and visitors of LFUCG facilities.
Safety and Loss Control ensures regulatory compliance with the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and
other agencies that protect employees by ensuring a safe and healthy place to work.
Safety and Loss Control provides assistance to the other divisions of the LFUCG by providing technical
interpretations, statistical reviews and loss exposure analyses, training, loss prevention surveys with assistance
for abatement of the hazards found, industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality surveys, ergonomic
surveys and facility inspections.
Reducing the frequency and severity (cost) of accidents and injuries includes:
- Conducting risk analysis and loss prevention surveys to identify risk exposures and evaluating accident reports
to identify the root cause for each division, thereby assisting with the determination of the best risk treatment measures.
- Conducting safety training sessions for new employees, and providing a monthly safety publication training aide for
supervisors and employees.
- Recognizing divisions during Council Work Sessions that have contributed to the overall safety policy of providing a
safe and healthy work environment.
