Fire Training
Every firefighter's career with the LFUCG begins at the Fire Training Center. Their knowledge, ability and instincts are honed by our training officers during a rigorous schedule of training evolutions and a challenging curriculum. The final result is a group of highly trained individuals, prepared to work as a team of life savers in one of our 21 fire stations on one of three 24 hour shifts. No recruiting group can be better than the cadre who train them, and ours is among the best in the nation. Under the direction of Assistant Chief David Mattingly, these Training Officers design and implement a curriculum that brings each recruit class from civilian lives of differing background and skill sets into a challenging career in the fire service.
