Job Duties
OC#: 08C-10-905N Duties include operating communication systems, answering 911 telephones and taking emergency and non-emergency calls in the Division of Enhanced 9-1-1; relaying information to personnel and dispatchers; and other related duties. After successful completion of six (6) month probation as a Telecommuter, individual will be eligible for movement to Telecommunicator Sr., with a minimum salary increase to $15.21. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school or GED and thirteen (13) months of vocational training and one (1) year of experience in the public or private sector as a call taker for a communications unit; or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be a citizen of the United States and 18 years of age. Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. All certified applicants will be required to complete a psychological suitability screening, and individuals recommended for employment will be required to submit to a polygraph and background check. EXAMINATION will be a pass/fail CritiCall Personnel Selection System test, a minimum score of 3180 keystrokes per hour and minimum overall score of 60, is required to continue in the process. Applicants passing the CritiCall test will receive a training and experience evaluation based on the information provided on the application at the filing deadline date weighted at 70% of the final score. The CritiCall score will be weighted at 30% of the final score for determining ranking on the eligibility list. In addition, all qualified applicants who pass the CritiCall test will complete a Customer Service test.
