Effective October 1, 2007: The 2007 Kentucky Building Code is used for all commercial construction and multi-family construction in the Urban County area. Accessibility requirements are also contained in the KBC with reference to the 2003 rule included in the American National Standards Institution, ANSI, Section: A117.1. Effective for all plans submitted as of November 1, 2007, the single family residential code will be the 2007 Kentucky Residential Code. The KRC contains its own energy code information.

Plumbing is handled by the State Health Department, using the 2007 Kentucky Plumbing Code. The Plumbing code is available for viewing on the web. . For more information, contact the local plumbing office at 859-246-2056.
