Lexington-Fayette County requires that a permit be obtained for all Fences and Retaining Walls over two (2) feet tall.

The maximum height for a fence in the front yard is six (6) feet and eight (8) feet in the rear yard.

Retaining Walls three (3) feet and over require Engineer sealed plans and certification after the wall is built.
